What Bowl To Get?

My grandma wants a betta bowl, she won't listen to me when I tell her a little bowl isn't good and I'm worried she'll try to do a 100% water change on a 5 gallon tank and end up breaking the tank and hurting herself. She's had them in bowls and they did GREAT. She did daily cleanings and weekly 100% changes, also her house is 80 degrees year round. Please list some bowls you have and if you don't have any I'll make one myself (1 gallon fish bowl, small filter, live plants, the same as a tank just rolled into a smaller package).

I think try to get a 1 gallon.. But sometimes you can find one just a tiiiny bit bigger! I've seen some jars that ended up being close to 2 gallons, like 1.8, it's better than a .5 gallon bowl!

Ya I was thinking about just making it myself. There's some nice jars at Walmart, most are big enough for a heater, filter, live plants, gravel, and they're small and plastic.

At the wallmart near me there are two gallon jars for like 10$ USD that happily accommodate all of the above. They are glass though ~

How about a Kritter Keeper? Not sure if she'll like the looks of them, but it's a thought. Maybe look at your local craft store, we have Michaels and Hobby Lobby who sell some pretty large glass jars that look really nice!

Well I want something plastic and Kritter Keepers IMO are too expensive...I have 3 from Walmart and those are $5 each for 1 gallons and 2 gallons are $14. A 10 gallon bare tank is cheaper.

She also has a ton of containers...hmm but I think I'll just get her a big plastic container....just seems to me a better option.

Yeah but IDK about how to put a heater in because they're curved, unless the sectuion cups will stick?

Edit: I just tested it and both heater and corner filter will stick to a big glass pickle jar :)

I've seen 2 gallon fish bowls in petsmart/petco sometimes.

Hmm, otherwise I would just try and find a little tub that holds 2 gallons or more. I went to office depot the other day and saw quite a few storage containers that would make cute betta homes.

At walmart, in the kitchen isle they have glass cookie jars. There is a 1 gallon (for $7) and 2 gallon size (~$12). I have the 1 gallon jar, the Marineland Pro Stealth heater for 3 gallon and less, and a glass thermometer . It can fit a heater inside, no problems suctioning to the jar and a java fern I bought from petsmart seems to be doing well. Just make sure she doesn't keep the lid on the jar.
