do bettas mark their territory by building bubble nests?

I'm wondering because after one of my bettas catches their reflection and flair for a little bit, its not too uncommon to see bubble nest some time later. I caught one of my boys flaring then he went to the corner and started spitting out bubbles. Could this be a way of marking territory?

Yup. Bettas usually will make their nests on a clump of plants or leaves in the wild. They don't usually stray from the nest.

When a male with a nest and a female who's ready to breed meet the usually begin courtship. My most recent breed, they got right into spawning.
