No one truely knows why, but this is the best explaination generations upon generations of betta keepers have come up with and joke about~

once you own bettas, you are bit by a parasite they carry, we call it the betta bug... which causes an extreme addiction to betta fish in general. Symptoms include being unable to buy or breed enough bettas, constant thoughts of bettas, uncontrollable ravings about bettas and their care to LFS employees, and being glued to your betta tank. While it is a sickness that you'll never loose, you'll be able to live happily with it, though your wallet may disagree. Note, it is highly contagious, so use caution when interacting with both people and bettas together.

Hmmm.....don't forget, vomiting may occur when you accidently suck water too far through your siphon XD

1. constant thoughts of bettas - Im always thinking of what I could do to make my tank better. Everything from plants to pondering if the height of the bulb from the bottom of the tank is too low or too high (too low = more light = algae, too high = not enough light). And then theres his tailbiting issue. I was bored in my programming class and my mind wandered over to "betta place". I was wondering if gabe would ever stop tailbiting -_-

2. being glued to your betta tank - just as good as a blockbuster film.

Oh goodness I got one - then two.... then three. And I stopped. Even when I see stunning ones in the store I don't feel compelled to get them. I think three was my magic number.

I find taking care of them a chore I enjoy doing - a constant in my life that is always annoyingly unstable. I love the way they come up to greet me and how pissy they get at water changes [except Commie who kinda DGaFs] and I love how my family adores them as well. It's so cute watching my father carefully feed them c: *giggles*

LOL omg yessss.....

How about ... Looking at objects & thinking..."That would look sooo kewl in my tank...I wonder if
it's aquarium safe??"...

Pros: Fun to play with water (I like water changes lol), decorate, how cute they look
when they are happy & free from tiny cups & jumping for noms.

Cons: So many betta's...so little time. (and space, and...cash...*sigh*)
