tank and heater

I am looking for a temporary home for my betta while my 10 gallon is cycling. I would also like to use it for a quaratine/hospital tank when i get more females for my sorority. I heard that the plastic sterilite containers work well but i was wondering if i could use it permanently or should i just buy a kritter keeper?

What would be a good heater for a 2-3 gallon plastic sterilite container? I am limited to my local pet stores. I also found a hydor theo 50 watt on clearance at my local pet store and i just bought it and i was wondering if that is too much wattage for a 2-3 gallon tank?

As long as it is adjustable it should be ok. I have a 50w top fin in my 2.5 gallon hospital tank and it doesn't over heat it (but then again this particular heater is broken and doesn't heat fully).

A sterilite container is a great option to use, they're also generally cheaper than kritter keepers. If you want you could take a hot nail and poke holes in the top of the the container for air and also to allow heater and filter (if used) cords out.
