Food

I have a small Betta jar of Betta Pellet food. The basic little brown spheres of food, at what point would they be considered expired? I have it for about over a year.

Once the seal is broken you have about 6 months to a year-they are not usually harmful to feed-but the vitamin/mineral-some proteins are useless and some fats can go rancid...its best to use food up within one year.

I would suggest buying some newer pellets that will have more protein in them. But like Oldfishlady said. The older ones arent harmful

I always buy new fish food every 6 months. I didn't KNOW that it wasn't as nutrient but I assumed. Mainly because the smell wasnt as strong. When the smell gets less strong I toss it even if I haven't reached 6 months yet.
