I think hes just skittish about eating. Yeah, but only 50% every other day, whih coincides with gravel vacuuming.

wardley betta premium food, same bottle ive had for about three or four years.

Yeah. I use Hikari and Hardleys.. Does he atemp to eat the pellets but then spits them out?

Nope, i drop a pellet in and he hides, i leave it there for an hour then take it out.

Have you tried bloodworms? And does he ever swim around..or does he always hide in the cave?

No i havent, always forget to get them, i mostly use the pellets as the main and brine shrimp as a secondary. he swims around till i sit at my desk, then he hides in his cave.

Sounds very shy.. And how big is the tank youre housing him in? Maybe you should try taking the cave out to help him get used to you without being able to hide..

2.5 gallons, i would take out the cave, but i dont want to take something away from him that makes him feel safe.

Well if its preventing him from eating then... What else can you do.. You could try sitting by his tank for a hour or so to let him know you arent the "bad guy"
