Something is growing in the tank!

Hey, I got my betta fish in early September, and it lives in a 10 gallon tank by itself. It has a filter, a heater, and a lamp. This morning, if it was there, I definetly didn't realize it, but when I went to go look at him a few minutes ago, I saw this disgusting thing on the side:

Should I take him out of the tank and do a 100% water change? But that would get rid of the good bacteria, right? I have the small cup he came in but that's the only thing I can keep him in, I guess...

Yeah, it is the orange. It's not green at all, the picture is just bad. So if it is algae, how do I get rid of it?

That looks like diatoms. It's totally normal in a new tank. Just get an aquarium scrubber and you can scrub it off.
