Planting 1.5g betta tank in progress

Hello! Some of you know Tony, my VT betta. I upgraded his tank from plastic "jewel stones" to gravel. I want it to be somewhat planted. I just bought a Java Fern for it at Petsmart (55 minutes away) tonight. Tony loves it, but the plant just doesn't fill up much tank. I want to give it more of a planted look.

He just adores his cute little plant. I would like to add more (types).

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have that same tank that I use as a hospital tank. I put a java fern and anubius in it and the light would not grow them. I had to move them to another tank when it looked like they were starting to die.

Hehe, my tank looks a lot like yours! Same gravel and a java fern :P I want to make mine seem more planted too, so I'm curious about what people suggest!

I added a some marimo balls to my tank, you could probably add some of those in too! :)

Good for you for driving all that way to make your guy happy!

My babies love to play in floating Anacharis. It's cheap AND grows like crazy. You don't have to float it though, lightly covering it in the gravel will work too.
Wendt's are pretty too with broad leaves for sleeping on. :)

I love Anubias plants, easy to care for and they don't need to be planted in the gravel they attach to wood etc in the tank.

So these are maribo balls? I say them at petsmart for $7 a piece. Are they easy to keep? They look pretty interesting to me.
