I'm so confused on how the heck to make a drip system...since I'm gonna be flooded with bettas in a few months I'll need something to keep them warm and clean.
Supplies:
Several packs of 50 16oz plastic cups (depending on the number of bettas)
A couple of long shallow clear tubs with lids
Power filter
Extra filter cartridges
Submersible heater
A couple of papaer clips
A lighter
Step one:
Ok so get your cups, your lighter, and your paper clips. Undo one part of your paper clip. Light your lighter and place the rod like end of your paper clip into the flame for about 10-20 seconds. Melt several holes into your cups. You will need to keep heating the clip several times per cup. Place about 2 rows of tiny holes around the cup. Continue this with all cups until you have the amount you need.
Step two:
Now place your tub where you want it, away from direct sunlight and drafts. Rinse everything (including, tub, heater, and filter cartridge). Fill your tub with water. Place on cup inside the tub. Ideally you want about an inch from the top of the cups to the water level. Once that's all and checked you can remove the cup. Now you can place your heater and plug it in. Now place your power filter on one end of the tub. Plug it in as well. Now add your water conditioners. Let your tank cycle!!! Don't skip that!!
Step three:
After your tub is cycled you can begin to add your cups and fish. Keep your cups a few inches away from the power filter flow so that no one lives under a water fall.
Hope this helped breeders and hobbyists who have a severe case of the betta bug!!!
