Changing tanks

I am a newbie to Betta, for the most part, so bear with me guys & gals, lol. I bought my fishy earlier today (or should I say last night as it's around 1:30 am at the moment.. anyway) and was mislead about the temperature needs for a Betta. We found out what was needed, so while out buying a larger tank, I bought a heater as well. I know that it is recommended that you should gradually introduce the Betta into a new environment.. However the tank it was in seemed to be WAY TOO COLD and we switched him only after the heater was on for a little bit of time.. I am so worried this will effect him badly, will it?

By now it should have not affected him. But in the case that you do switch tanks again, pour some of the old water into a plastic baggie and put your fish in it. Make sure that there is lots of air at the top. Then place your fish in the bag and set it in the tank with the heater running. Wait for about 25 minutes then release him into the tank. by putting him in the bag he will slowly adjust to the temp.
