Still glass surfing

My girl, jasmine, glass surfs all day long. She is all alone in a ten gallon, with a huge rock display with tunnels and 3 large fake plants and several live plants still sprouting. She has ZERO interest in anything in her tank. She just glass surfs all day long on any side of her tank that isn't against a wall. Its been a few weeks and I would have guessed she would have adjusted by now.

Some fish are more neurotic than others, unfortunately.. have you tried putting things up close to the glass and rearranging her decorations often in order to help break the behavior? Putting different colorful objects right outside the aquarium sometimes helps alleviate boredom and might help her focus on a different task than glass surfing.

I have rearranged it several times, including one time where i put all the decorations and rocks along the side she tank surfs on to try and break her up... no luck, she just did it on another side or swam all through and around the decorations on the main side. She responds when we get near the tank, and focuses on the side facing the tv or computer when they are on, but it is just non stop. she can even see my new crowntails tank from hers yet she doesnt seem to care. would some tank mates be good for her?

Yeah it might just be her personality, sounds like you have tried everything in your power
to help.
Some people find ping pong balls, Betta Mirrors, or an air bubbler set to maybe
release 1-2 bubbles sporadically keeps their betta entertained.
Or maybe a pretty background?

Tanksmates that could work are 4 corycats (they like to be in groups), some shrimp, a large snail..Just make sure you
can take the corycats back if she decides to excessively harass them...Is the tank filtered? Some like to play
in a filter current, flare at it or ride it down like a slide..lol

I heard someone say they you can smear aquarium sealant on the inside of the glass to make it less reflective. Maybe this will break up her surfing??

She might just be chasing her reflection! :D

Ooooo hey...What about those faux "stained glass" clings they sell at craft stores??
You could get an opaque/frosted one to lessen the reflection maybe...

it doesnt seem to be that she chases her reflection, because she follows us around the tank. she allways surfs the side closest to us. we might try something to bubble in the tank and see if she likes it.

Try covering all 4 sides and reduce the photoperiod to 4 hours a day for 3-4 days...maybe slowly increase the light by 1-2 hours a day and remove one side at a time and see what happens....this is just a thought (guess)...something to try.......and do some 25%daily water only changes.......

What was the water temp and water change schedule???

Another thought - Does the wall or anything touching the tank vibrate? Maybe not enough for
you to notice but she might be reacting to this?
