java fern?

I put a java fern in my 10 gallon about 3 days ago.

I was just wondering how often do I need to feed plant food to it and also how long does it take to grow?

dont put any. without proper equipment it would be a waste of money and wouldnt really do anything to the plant

I have a filter, heater that is set to 78F, and fluorescent lighting. Do I need any other equipment?

Whats the spectrum of light? any other light just makes algae. you want 6500K - 10000K. And what plant food are you talking about? If its Seachem Flourish than thats good. Its what I use for my low tech plant tank

I'm not sure what spectrum lighting it is. My brother gave me the light when I decided to start my own aquarium. But he has been fishkeeping for a long while now. I do use Seachem Flourish as a plant food.

Flourish is good then. Go for it. The other API Plant food thing is crap.

Well I would just try to find a bulb thats rated 6500K. If its the spiral kind those are easy to find. Even at walmart they sell em. If its the tube it shouldnt be more than $15 at a good pet store. Other than that go for it because the plant is undemanding. Takes a while for it to get thick but it will be worth it in the end
