you GOTTA see this... bizzare! lol!

i was just browsing through aquabid, when I came across these... I've never seen anything like them! and look at the prices! the first one is over $200 and the rest are all over $150! they certainly are interesting, but I wouldn't pay that much! i don't get why someone would breed them like that! seems like it would be hard for them to swim!

Wow, those are beautiful! There large fins are so cool looking. :D
Hm, if they are breed that way I don't see why they would have issues with swimming, their fins are probably as strong as they are big.
But I don't know much about breeding, so I could definitely be wrong, lol.
I hope it doesn't harm them.

Wow, I've seen some of the dumbo females before, but never any with fins that big, the ones I saw were just a little bigger than normal!

Omg, I saw these and I LOVED them!! Of course, if I was going to spend that much money on one, I would buy it a long, shallow tank to makes swimming easier. They are so beautiful, but probably can't swim very well. I would still love to have one though!!

Yeah, from what I've heard, the fins make it extremely hard for the fish to swim. It's like adding on weights, which bettas DO NOT need xD They've already got enough to lug around as it is, and they've GOT to reach the surface. It looks good, but seems pretty cruel. It'd be better on a fish that doesn't need to surface all the time.

Edit: Also, you can see where some of the fish have nipped their own fins... Yikes. Pectorals are pretty important for bettas, as it's their main way of movement. If they're so cumbersome that the fish are actually nipping them, they have to be uncomfortable.

I personally think it looks really cool, but it's not something I would breed for.

I have a boy like this from walmart. He swims just fine except for his bad SBD problem..

Still DH, yours isn't THIS bad... there's a line that has to be drawn. I feel like when a betta starts biting his own pectorals, it's getting a wee bit too big o_O It's an interesting look, I admit.

Oh poor babies....
I can see very well how that would make swimming difficult.
There's a limit to breeding for beauty...
