Another Stupid Lighting Question

OK. I'm finally getting around to buying my 6.5 gallon a hood, the trouble is it doesn't come with a starter and being a noob with the whole lighting thing I don't have a clue where to start. This is the hood.

I emailed the seller and this is the reply

Yes any starter would fit, but you need to select the right starter for the chosen tube, you need to select a tube approx 6inch (15cm) smaller the the hood, so a 18x10 hood, should have a 12in tube or maybe a 15 inch tube, so you need a either an 8 wt starter for the 12 inch tube or a 14/15w starter for the 15inch tube.

I'm still very, very confused as to what I need. I've tried looking on the net and have found starters that are small and then full on starter units

I'm confused so was hoping someone who knows their stuff could possibly help me. Pictures or links of what I need would be greatly appreciated

If it is a fluorescent bulb/tubes this is the type of starter I use for mine-I get them at walmart for under $2.00 for 2pk

They do come in different sizes based on bulb watts/inches

I use the FS-2 for 14-20w or 15-24in-so yours would be smaller

here is some more
