It may be that he is having troubles seeing them or maybe he is still shocked and curious about the new tank.

I have problems with one of my betta's seeing his food. He's such a verocious eater that he goes for whatever is in the tank when he knows it's feeding time. He usually misses the food then I need to catch it and try again.

does he see the food? I have to hold the pellet over the tank, wait for him to notice, then he eyes it for awhile and will NOT eat it unless I step far away from the tank, and then repeat it a few times.
