Exclamation Worst Case Of Bloat...

... I've ever seen.

She was given to the pet store today where I ussed to work, by a customer that no longer wanted her. They had bought a her few months ago, and gave her to the store this morning saying she had been like this a "long time". The manager then gave her to me, hoping I could help her.

She's swimming fine, can submerge fine, can come up for air fine, no lop-sided swimming, and even flared at another betta she spotted earlier.

She currently has aquarium salt and extra stress coat in her water, and I'm fasting her.

Any other suggestions for a case this severe?

Photo's...

Holy crap o.o Hopefully someone can help you out. As I'm fairly new with the bettas, I haven't had anything like this o.o One was a little constipated, but that's it.

So, is bloat just constipation? Or is it something else?

No, it could be a number of things. She isn't pineconing, so at least it shouldn't be dropsy.

My guess (besides being over-fed) is she has produced a ton of eggs and haven't dropped them? No idea.

Sorry, I should clarify. What exactly is it? Is it a buildup of food? Fatness? Buildup of poop? Combination?

I know the cause can be many things :P

Oh. My. Goddness. That poor girl looks like she's about to pop...good luck with her. If they were eggs, she should eventually have absorbed them into her body...
