:( yuck. Hey at least bettas don't need UVB lighting. I'm against breeding for albinism things like Iguanas.. The amount of light needed for them is already SO BRIGHT that with their sensitive eyes it hurts!
But you know, honestly, we breed a lot of 'deformities'... Imagine if all dogs looked like wolves, like early dogs..and someone bred a weiner dog..or a chihuaha we'd think he was an idiot!! :O And it's true, the long fins we have bred into our bettas would be a 'deformity' in the wild.. Imagine having to lug those around while swimming away from predators! The wild isn't full of 5 gallon filtered tanks where everyone is nicely seperated complete with lids! Dangerous out there!
But ahaha that is expensive for a fish..especially one that lives for such a short time! If they lived 20+ years and it was a rare mutation that didn't cause problems..I could see that, and I HAVE seen that. But not for a betta! Unless it was the magical glowing perfect finned ultra betta who could fly and talk :)
