Serious emergency!!

Ok..so my Betta, Mini is fine..at least I think so. Today I was cleaning out the filter and I found what looks like a small worm trapped inside the fibers of the filter cartridge. I was wondering if ANYONE could provide ANY help or insight into what this could possibly be. Here's a pic...hope it helps.

How big is it and was it alive or dead? Do you feed any live foods?
Most critters we find in our aquariums are harmless-we have a lot of critters in our tanks that naturally occur and never see-that can be a sign of healthy water or a dirty and/or overfed tank.

Sometimes bugs will get into your house and lay eggs in the water, or they hitch-hike in on live plants. I wouldn't be too worried, just rinse the filter media out gently and vacuum your tank really well.

thanks for everything. :)

and in response- it was alive && i think it may have come from overfeeding them. they just look so hungry ALL the time.

and I dont feed them live foods. I actually started giving them shrimp like a month or so ago, but I mean..its from the variety can so I didnt think it was a problem (shrimp, granules, and flakes).

Looks like a meal worm to me- may have hatched from an egg laid in an open food container.

Mmm gecko food! :D I love mealies! We have a colony of about 1000+ right now so we don't have to buy them XD
