Filter too strong?

Hey everyone, I bought Adamu a Tetra Whisper Power Filter at Walmart, and as I said in another thread it was WAY too strong. Well I bought some aquarium sponge last night, I think the brand is Aqua Clear. I attached it with a rubber band to the bottom where it sucks the water up, as well as where the water pours out so it goes in two directions. This seems much better, but whenever he goes to that side, he stays there and it seems like once again he's fighting to swim. He goes really fast up and down and it bends him sideways, so I turned it off.

I just really don't know what else to do, I think I decreased the current as much as possible :/

Try pulling the sponge that is on the water return down some. The lower it is, the slower the flow. Hope that helps! :)

make a filter baffle out of a water bottle.
I can't find where the guide is right now- but I'll keep my eye out.

Yeah with my Whisper filter, I had to stuff sponge down until I got it just right.
