Threatening to make her into sushi works. Maybe you released her too early. Trust me females can get crazy which is why it's important to moniter the pair during breeding.

They are called fighting fish for a reason and anyone breeding them should know that accidents DO happen and the one who gets attacked almost always heals from small injuries like that. Takes time and patience but they heal..

Yes he was trying to breed them. Bettas can be weird. If the female is red that would explain a lot.

Really? So red bettas are actually proven to generally be more aggressive?

Yup. My red HMPK female flares more than her brother and I've had reds shred males. Many breeders agree that reds are more aggressive. However we're not sure why they are.

actually when i separated them for the 3rd time the male was lying on the floor looking like hes dead.

yes i was trying to breed and i bred before so i know the processs. the female i have never seen this agressive ness and i think its because this is an experienced bred betta and she had her stomach ripped onpen because of spawning and she stands up for her self now.
