Red face Question about fasting.

I've seen on here a few times where people fast their fish for a day and I was just wondering if it's necessary and if it's bad that I feed mine everyday.

I usually feed them all 3-4 pellets a day and was just wondering if I was hurting them by not fasting.

Thanks!

Only if you notice their bellies swelling up too much.
The point of fasting is to help completely cleanse their system so that constipation is avoided.

Ok thanks! I was just making sure I wasn't going to hurt them or anything. I'll probably start doing a fasting day just to help keep them healthy. :]

I fast mine every saturday. mainly because he is a pig and I am overly worried about him getting constipated. I stay at my boyfriend's every weekend, so I feed him Friday normal (throught out the day and definetly before I leave), then saturday nothing, sunday he gets fed in the afternoon/evening.

I fast my fish every Saturday too! My fish LOVES to eat, so now I can let him eat a little extra when I feed him since he's going to go a day without food.

Yea, tank raised Bettas will eat and eat like no tomorrow. More of a natural instinct as wild Bettas don't know when their next meal is going to come so they will gourge themselves when food is available. I let my boy go hungry once a week as well.

Thank for all the replies! I decided to fast them yesterday since they've been fed everyday since I got them lol. So, I guess Friday will be my fasting day. :]
