Light makes him see his reflection?

Hey guys,

So i got this new light bulb for my eclipse hex 5 gallon tank. and the "color" is called aqua glo.
I think that in certain light situations(especially early morning) when there is only light peeping through my blinds he can see his refection when i turn on the light. The is totally flared and acts like he does when i put a mirror in front of him. It is like he is fighting.
I am worried because when in gone for 6 hours a day, and i leave the light on he might hurt himself or even worse. Any suggestions?
Of course i still have his old regular light bulb but i much prefer the reddish light the aqua glo gives off.

Don't bother turning on the light when you're away.
Only turn it on for observation.

That is a option but here in Canada, we have particularly darker days

so, after running a few experiments, i Have concluded the following:
He only see his refection when it is darker outside his tank and the light is on
and it doesn't matter what bulb i put in he still sees his refection
I don't want to rub silicone all over my tank.
Any suggestions?

Just don't turn on the light! Betta's prefer the dark anyway's, my three guy's spend day's in the dark..only with the sunlight shining in.

As Rain Drop said, just turn on the light to look in on them. Or another option is.. don't have the light on all the time, mine are basically just on three hours a day..then they get the occasional sun shinning in.

I turn the tank light's on when I get up, and if I have to leave the house right away I turn them off.

Betta's can flare up to 5 min's a day.

Does your tank have a background? My betta used to freak when the light in his tank was on and my room light was off. As soon as I added a background he quit! I leave the light on for my betta a lot because my dorm is dark when no one is around.

No think it would be hard to add a background to a hexagon?
