I hate seeing...!

I hate seeing a strand of my hair in my fish tanks when I do water changes, like I tie them up and pull my bangs back but on occasion as I look in at my freshly changed fish tanks I gasp in horrified horror when I see a strand of my hair in a tank.

Like tonight, I'm writing this as I'm watching Jet's tank drain, I just finished Tex's tank and when I bent down to admire my work I see a strand of hair there mocking me.

Does this ever happen to anyone else?

I can't go get it without draining his tank out again.

My question is, is it dangerous for them?

I hate that too... and it happens all the time lately. Sometimes it seems like I'm shedding!

Lol, as far as I can tell, it doesn't hurt them. Whenever I see hairs in the tank, I just reach in and grab it. Sometimes, if it's out of reach, I just get the tank/turkey baster and then suck it out... but recently that hasn't worked because my hair is getting too long.

My boyfriend always is making fun of me because there is a lot of hair in all my tanks. :c It will be hanging off a plant waving at me in the current so i'll pull it out and then there will be another in its place. XD

Ya I have long hair to, so it's usually tangled around gravel or the plants so it takes my finger's to go pull it out.

But this one is in his gravel so I can't go get it or else the tank will overflow.

Thankz for letting me know it's not dangerous, it's just really ugly and it really puts a dent in our felling good about being a good fish owner.
Seeing that hair there, it almost looks like it's smiling, "haha u can't get me!!"
*sigh*

I'm a big shedder. I have very thick hair and a LOT of hair so I always have a ton coming out so it always enevitably ends up in the tanks, especially when I had plastic plants in the tanks for some reason. I don't worry about it too much, if I see a hair I just pull it out and keep on truckin.

I get cat hair in my tanks....

If hair was dangerous I seriously would not be able to have fish. When I clean out my canister filters I always find an excess of cat hair covering the first layer of filter floss--but heck, more areas for bacteria to colonize, right?

lol same here! my hair some how gets stuck on the plants after I have rinsed them. I won't realize it until I see it floating off a leaf once I'm done setting it back up. haha

my hair gets stuck too, no worries!
I have super thick hair, so I loose a lot of hair.

and dont even get me started on cat/dog hair. thank god one of my dogs only sheds once a year.. I dont think I could have white hair added into my mix. I am always covered in pet hair. lol.

It happens to me every once in awhile too :p My hair sheds a LOT when I need to get a trim, gets so thick x.x It's actually nearly time now lol, maybe over christmas break I'll get one.

EDIT: I just looked over at my tank and saw a hair :p But it was just stuck to the outside glass (no wet hand this time :p)

Same here! My hair just falls out 24/7 (I guess it's lucky that I have a lot more where that came from), so I ALWAYS end up getting hair in the tank...even when I have my hair tied back in a bun!

But Janus seems to be amused by it. There's one caught in the filter current now and he's nipping at it. :|
