Is it just me or does it seem like plakats are calmer and better at interacting with their owners than other types of bettas? Yesterday I stuck my hand into the tank to fix my java fern and I see my plakat swimming curiously towards my hand to see what all the commotion was about. So i start waving my fingers around the water gently as he glides between my fingers. If I would've done this to my previous bettas (crowntails, VTs) they would've freaked out will start to dash and dart everywhere.

Oh my, my plakat is hyper, fiesty, and super active. He is obsessed with the calendar on the wall a foot away. He moves faster than any of my other bettas I have now (and have had in the past). But I love him... he's my fiesty little thing. Oh, and show him his reflection, I've never seen one of my bettas get as fired up as he does.

You may just have a really chill fish. I had a betta who was like this. Nothing fazed him :)
