Filter won't fit in tank?

Okay I don't know if I'm being really stupid right now or not, but I just bought the Tetra starter 10 Gallon tank today and I cannot figure out how to get the Tetra Whisper PF10 filter to fit on. It says to hang it in the back, but then I can't have the tank lid on with the lid! o.o

Maybe I'm being really dense, but I looked in the instructions and I can't see any pics or anything that shows how it should be placed. Hopefully someone can help me xD I need to get this tank cycling! Thanks!

On the back of the lid there should be some perforated plastic cut outs for the filter and heater etc. If your does not have this then take it back to the store and get another.

Yeah it should have the plastic. We couldn't really cut it and we had to rip it...mine had a smaller hole and a larger one too and I've got both holes punched out for my filter, heater and air line.

Yeah I figured it out xD Thanks! It took a knife and scissors in order to cut the pieces out in the back - -" Think they could make it a bit easier?
