can I use a soapstone incense warmer for a beta cave?

It is brand new never used. It is all stone no paint. Its a perfect size for his aquarium. If it did not have the word soap in it I would not even hesitate. thanks

You could put a drop of vinegar on it. If it bubbles, don't use it. I think soapstone might be ok to use, it gets it name from the way the stone feels to the touch.

thanks. I put it in, but King is not doing good (he has been doing good/bad off and on). I was hoping he would feel better with a new safe place to hide. So I have to wait and see. Thank you

Soapstone is actually a metamorphic*form of talc (as in talcum powder), and varies widely in how much it 'sheds' particles. Provided it doesn't decompose in water by itself it'll be fine, but you don't want fine particles of anything clogging your fish buddys breathing apparatus.

* altered under pressure and heat

ok I will watch for flaking. He loves the cave. Hopefully he will recover so he can use it. He is in treatment right now.
