somethings not right

so my betta is fairly active. just yesterday, he didn't want to fight against the mirror. i knew something was wrong. he likes to hang out at the top of the tank, against the side, where a lot of the algae is. nitrite and nitrate levels are 0, and ammonia, .25 ppm. could thee algae be having an effect on him? i took these parameters after i did a water change today.

thanks!

If the ammonia level was .25 after a water change, it was probably much higher than that before the water change and making him ill. I'd do water changes more frequently and keep testing the water to make sure it doesn't rise above .25.

how about ammo-lock or whatever that product is? he seems to try to eat. he doesn't like to move much though. whenever i would check though, he would be somewhere else in the tank, so he is still mobile.

ok, so i added 1 spoon-ful of aquarium salt and 1 betta revive solution (by Aquarium Solutions.) I talked to one pet store, and they said to wait it out. but it looked like it changed to quickly to be normal. they said that they are lazy fish and they will do that. is this true? he wasn't like this when i got him...

10 gallons, every week. did the water change yesterday. i did add those solutions. he floaots on the bottom, then goes to the top, then back down. it looks like hes loosing color as well :( i don't know what else to do for him. for some reason, ammonia is STILL .25ppm!?! 3rd water change and i can't get it down to 0... is it because the algae? also, my ph level is around 8.0
