Which tank should I get?

I have my betta in a 1 gallon with a whisper 3i filter.

However I want to upgrade his home to a 5 gallon with heater.

Which of the two tanks below should i get?

Hawkeye 5 Gallon
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=14660258

Eclipse Hexagon 5 Gallon
http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2752369

Thanks for th expert opinions guys :)

I've heard a lot of good things about the first one, and it seems it'd be better for your betta seeing as it's more wide and long vs thin and tall, meaning more air space for your betta.

Both the tanks look good. If you're tight on money I'd get the one from Walmart but if not get the one from Petsmart. Bettas really like the taller tanks as opposed to the wider ones from what I've seen.

Either would be good.

The eclipse series of tanks have generally been good from my experience and what I have heard from others. I also like how it has the BIO wheel which is good for growing beneficial bacteria.

The hawkeye I would lean towards if I knew I was going to put live plants in the tank, since it already comes with a flourescent bulb.

Hope this helps. :)

The one from Wal-Mart def has more room for live / fake plants and decorations which my bettas love in their tanks. So the choice is totally yours. They're both great.

Personally.. I like the looks of the Walmart one better.. mainly because of the hood. But you could check into the cost of replacement filters for both, to see which one is more cost effective. Is one filter easier to get than the other? Are you closer to a Walmart than a Petsmart? or Vice Versa.. thinking about driving time, and ability to get it as you need it.

also, the hex would have a smaller base, so if you're pressed for space i'd go with that one.

I love my Hawkeye 5g! It really does look bigger than 5g, like Lion Mom said. When I think about dividing the 10g tank we have at home (to save two more bettas) I keep thinking the compartments look so small compared to the Hawkeye, even though they're the same!

I've heard that bettas prefer to swim horizontally, as their native homes (rice paddies) are shallow.

I have my Hawkeye on my desk, and it takes up no more room than my laptop. Can't beat the price, either! And it will ship free site to store!

EDIT: Just wanted to add that the filter is absolutely silent on the Hawkeye.

I got a the Eclipse and I love it! Filter is pretty much silent, and keeps the water really clear. The filter also isn't too powerful.

I like the look of the Hawkeye too. It looks so spacious! They don't sell it here, though, so I got the Eclipse and I have no complaints.
