The local petco had some spectacular bettas. Almost walked out with a 5.5inch King (he was half again the size of all the other kings, also a halfmoon) when I discovered this guy in another--hidden--betta rack.
He's a blue-red butterfly (he has a white band at the tips) double tail, I'm unsure what tail type he has doubled, though. I think maybe a delta-tail double-tail. It's hard to see in the pictures, but I think he has a bit of a sun-tail crowning to his fins. His top fins are a bit tattered, I'm sure they'll heal up nicely, though. He also has neon-blue lipstick, and eyeshadow--it really stands out on his black face. He is super iridescent, and my flash wasn't working so I couldn't get many pictures to show it. He's got a nice green sheen all along his red fins, and his blue body--maybe he's a dragon?
He has gotten 5 ghost shrimp since the pictures were taken, and he is totally chill about them--hasn't touched them at all. Even if he doesn't like them eating his sunken pellets, he tries to get them for himself, greedy pig. (Think, hungry hungry hyppo!)
His tank is a 5-gallon hawkeye, with live plants. He really loves hanging out in the "jungle" of my wisteria, and also being in his tiki-cave with half his body sticking out... He's weird. He's really bad at eating pellets, I actually have to crush them--and they're the smallest pellets I've ever seen.
I am totally in love with this fish, as you can tell from how much I'm writing about him xD I'm pretty happy that he's chill about the shrimp, since that means I can eventually upgrade to some of the cool-colored ones :)
I'd love to try and breed this guy, sometime, if I ever find the resources to do so. Honestly, I think he's comparable to anything on aquabid!
