There's never a guarentee. Message me if you want a microworm culture....an important food source for fry and are great.

Betta Fry don't eat algae-they do, however, feed off the micro-organism that feed off the algae (marimo ball) for the first 5-10 days of free swim stage....it can take several weeks for enough micro-organism to form/colonize on the algae balls (marimo ball)...this is based on few fry and lots of algae in a mature tank with common snails.

Why would snails prevent you from spawning? I always through two or three MTS in my spawning tanks and I've never had issues with them.

I would not rely on microorganisms living in plants to last your fry very long. You should always have a mature culture of another food ready to go be it BBS, VE, MW, or any other small micro worm.

I never get water in my mouth using a home made siphon. Once I see the water coming I put the end of the siphon in the bucket before the water get's to my mouth.
