Exclamation Fading Color on Edgar

Hey Guys,
I have a Walmart Betta, Edgar who has had something wrong with him. He was completely grey and nasty looking about a week ago after adding BowlBuddies' Water treatment tablets to his tank for the first time.. It got him sick to where he was looking gross! He seems to have recovered from that and has a little bit of his color back however his color is still faded. I have quit using the water treatment stuff that I bought and he seems to be doing fine. He is blowing tons of bubbles and seems to be happy as can be. Although the color in him from the neck to his head is still a little grey as in the picture I've uploaded to this post.. He used to look like my avatar.. I have no clue whats going on or how to get him better... His activity is happy and he's eating like crazy but his color is just a tad off.

Thanks a lot for the help guys!! :)

If he is eating and is active then the color he is now just might be the color he is....But just in case how big is your tank and does it have a heater?

Hi Crowntail Lover!!

Thanks for the help.. He is in a 1/2 gallon tank and seems to be okay with it. I do have it heated to a constant 75-76 degrees.. Doing 2 full water changes a week.

Thanks :)

Well first your bettas jar is kinda small. He should be in at least 2.5 gallons with heating and filtration.

Yeah I'm hoping to upgrade him.. However this is what I can get until I have the money to afford a bigger tank..

Maybe raising water temps to 80*- 82* would help a bit. Good luck!

I agree. Water temps of 80-82 degrees would help alot. Also.. You can purchase a 2 gallon vase at walmart in the decor flower section. (thats what I house most of my males in.) They are olny $10 and the Bettas do just fine in them.. Also.. Since you do have such a small tank..How often do you do water chages?
