How much media to "seed" a tank for cycling?

Can I just rip tiny bits of fabric from danny boy's established filter, & stick them in the one's I want seeded? Should I put a handful of danny boy's gravel in each new tank too? Otherwise, I'm going gravel-less for now. Thanks :)

Even a teaspoon full of material is loaded with the good bacteria. Most pros will give you a handful of gravel when you ask for seed. The filter media would be better than the gravel, and yes, even a finger-sized strip would work.

Thanks Charlie for replying!
I have 2 tanks cycled solid now, and will rip off filter fabric from them for the new tanks. :)

Question Did it work?

Did you cycle your tank successfully?
