Cold water to warm?

Hey everyone,

I plan on getting another betta tomorrow and since that it is cold in my area, I'm sure his water will be pretty chilly too.

I'm wondering what would be the best way to introduce him to heated water.

Should I start off putting the heater on 76, wait two hours, then 78, wait another two hours then 80 wait again and 82? (I have my other betta at 82 and really enjoys it; I believe.)

Or should I wait longer in between raising the temperature? I don't want to shock him.

I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I can!

I would wait a little longer before adjusting the water temperature. It will lower the amount of stress a fish faces.
Overall, if you do as you are doing, it won't really "do too much" harm, but it will induce more stress on the fishy :)

Good Luck with the new Fish

just set the tank where you want it and float the betta cup in the tank. the water in his cup will slowly heat up to match the tank water and take care of that job for you. every 20-30 min add a bit more of the tank water to his cup until it is almost all tank water, then you can let him out.
