Can too many water changes harm my betta?

I have some problems with the water in my tank, and I am not sure how many water changes I can do without hurting my betta. I have only had large fishtanks before, so I am a little nervous.

I have him in a 5 gallon filtered/heated tank. I was wanting to change a percentage of the water every day for one week. If I changed 50%, would that be too much?

I don't know anything about filtered tanks, but I don't think large water changes would hurt the fish. Might stress him out, but I can't see it hurting him.

But too large of water changes might mess up your cycle :/

Hehe, I'm a 2-3 gallon person, filters scare me XD But I do 100% water changes every 2 days and my fish is healthy! :)

As long as you make sure your filter media stays submerged and doesn't dry out or get chlorinated water on it, large water changes are fine. I do large water changes on some of my cycled tanks and nothing happens to my cycle.

25% once a week is fine on a 5 gallon...You will want to do a vacuum on the gravel twice a month...
