Question How to get betta...

So i just bought some hide-outs for my boy and Trudy but they won't use them! How can i possibly get them to use them? Any tricks?

This urn i got for my male: http://www.petco.com/product/5946/PE...t=FishFC_Decor

and the thing i have for my female is a kind of a castle lookout thing...

(p.s Tru is extremely small, saved from Petco)

You might want to try taking it back and picking out another hide out decor.. If the Betta doesnt like it... Its likely not to go in it..

Well, the only thing you could really do is train the fish to go in it with food rewards, but that doesn't mean they will stay in it if there's no guarantee of food! :P

My fish normally don't use hidey areas for a while, it seems to take them a bit to get used to it then start to use it.

Some bettas just don't care for them. Janus never hides either.

Neptune doesn't hide all that much either, I figure it's because he feels safe in his environment so there is no need to. He does lay in there after a water change or swim through it when he's bored.

Trudy used it! And i was there to witness what i believe was her first time :D she seems to like it a lot too! I took the urn out of (needs new name)'s bowl because he was going crazy and i kind of felt he didn't like all the colors of it. I will go and get him something more subdued or just some wood or something. Silly boys.. lol
