good job! i was gonna do a NPT, but i've chickened out, lol. i'd get some hornwort from petsmart and just stick it in there, floating, planted, whatever.

Nice job Jackie, and so true you want to get the stem plants and floating plants in the tank and as the soil matures and starts its life underwater you can remove some of the stem and floating plants-it can take 3 months sometimes longer-I am sure you did this but make sure and add several trumpet snails to help keep the soil from going anaerobic the roots from the stem plants help this too by pulling oxygen into the soil

Until the tank matures make frequent water only changes-when I first set them up I may do daily 50-75% water only for the first 1-2 weeks at least until the stems start to actively grow and then reduce them to a couple a week and then weekly etc....as needed.....on mine I do 3-4 a year at best with weekly top offs....neat little ecosystem.......once balanced.....

for those still wanting to start i recomend palm peat soaked in chemi cult my bacopa is growing llike a weed and i'm probably going to have to trim it before i leave for christmas holidays.
