Am I overfeeding or is this OK?

I feed my betta NLS surface feeder formula pellets. Initially, I started out feeding maybe 4 pellets a day (2 in the morning, 2 at night). But I felt like it wasn't enough, and my betta would also sometimes wait for more. When he waited for more, I'd give him about 2 extra then he'd be happy and continue doing his normal stuff. Anyway so... now I feed him about 4 in the morning and 4 at night, so 8 pellets a day. He has never been bloated or anything and on some days I'll feed a little less. He doesn't have any fast days. And about 1 - 2 x a week, I replace one meal with bloodworms.

So is this ok? By common standards I think it's overfeeding.. a lot.. but he seems to be happy and not bloated or anything? People seem to recommend like 3 pellets max a day.

You are in the ballpark with 8 pellets a day. My little guy gets about 6 a day, my big guy gets 10-12 daily. NLS is great food and easily digestible so you can feed a little more than with lower quality foods. As long as you keep his temperature in the 78-82 range and he's not bloating or constipated you should be OK.
