My Betta is sick and I don't know what to do. =[

He is very pale and doesn't move around very much at all, he hasn't been eating well but he isn't bloated. His fins, the pectoral fins?

It's what they're called in this picture I guess.

Well they are nearly clear. He looks really sick. What are the symptoms of fin rot? Would he become like this because of it?

Tank: 10 G
Filter: Yes, Aqua Clear set to lowest flow, Biobag/ammonia&carbon/sponge
Heater: Yes, 80*
Last water change: 25% 3 days ago.
Water Conditioner: Yes, Nutrafin Aqua Plus
Ammonia: unsure of the exact # but low.
pH: 8.0 Is this to high? How do I fix it?
Tank mates: No
Airpump: No
Food: HBH Betta Bites Pellets
Feed: Once a day 3-5
Age: About a year.

The only medications I have at my disposal right now are.
API Liquid Fungus Cure
Jungle Internal Parasite Guard

Neither of which I have used yet as I am afraid I'll make it worse. Suggestions?

Sorry you are having problems....

How much and how often are the water change and is he the only fish in the 10g tank, any live plants?

Other than the clamped fins and not swimming around a lot...any other symptoms like flashing or rubbing against objects, injuries, spots, discoloration beside the clear pectoral fins (this may be normal)

Can you post a pic of your fish?
Can you post the numbers on the ammonia
Also the pH is fine you don't want to change this with chemicals

Thank you for replying so quickly. Here's a photo. I don't know if it will help. I'm waiting for him to get into a good spot to take another one.

A better picture of his bottom fins

I do then about once a week, one 3 days ago, no tank mates. No live plants

His fins are sort of tattered at the bottom, and his is VERY pale compared to before.

I don't know what flashing is...and he mostly hides in his cave or sits on his plant.

The Ammonia is low, but I have misplaced my card to tell me how low, I may be able to find it and I'll have a look now.
EDIT I found a photo I took with the card a while back and it's about 0.25ppm

Also for the Ammonia, the 0.25ppm is what the tap water is I believe.

You have ammonia in your source water...correct?

10g filtered with one betta-weekly water changes 25%, temp 80F-all good as far as care

Does your conditioner cover ammonia too? if not you may need to get one that does since you have ammonia in the source water like Prime by Seachem

Tattered fins can be caused from the filter itself, dragging fins on the substrate can cause this, ammonia to name a few common reason

Decrease appetite and lethargic-common cause is water quality/ammonia-An increase water changes to daily 50% for 3-4 days and see if this will perk him up-but you need a dechlorinator that covers ammonia since it is in the source water or the water changes may not help.....water changes will also help with fins but again the ammonia in the source water needs fixed first.

Flashing is when a fish rubs on objects on the tank

I am retesting the tap water now. I will have to find the nearest petstore and bus there to get a new conditioner. Is there anything else I could pick up that might help him? I hear aquarium Salt is good for stress? If I can I'd like to get this done in one bus trip.

EDIT: Not sure if it's the issue. The water doesn't seem to have ammonia in it, but it's heard to tell as 0ppm and 0.25ppm are very close in colour. But I can see the harm in getting a conditioner with the ammonia fix in it.

I wont be able to go to the pet store tonight as I think it's closed. I think I'll go ahead with a water change anyway. I have an ammonia absorber/carbon thing in my filter, and last time I did a change he perked up a bit but I think he just enjoyed my company.

OH! I just did a water change, as last time he come to see me, and I noticed his bottom fin is looking quite tattered. Some areas also a bit see through ...Does this point closer to fin rot?

But then again... when he swims he seems to have issues staying afloat. I'll try to take a video.

I have taken a horrible video that is sideways and not good quality but I hope it helps. The top of the tank is to the left. I wanted it to show you how he has to push himself up constantly.

The pectoral fins on my Betta are clear. That's totally okay.
