Starting a community tank

I had an empty 10g, what can I say? :)

So far it has Oliver who is a very old and partially blind VT but a total sweetheart and gets along famously with the snails. Just sits and looks at them for half the day. LOL

2 mystery snails. Just got these the other day. They mostly sit around all day and eat.

I am trying to decide what else to put in..

Maybe some ADFs or something like that. I have thought about cory cats but I feel like it'd be too overstocked. I will be adding shrimp for sure. But those don't add anything to the bio load.

Any ideas?

Are you looking for more bottom feeders, or actual fish? I think shrimp are a good plan but ADF's prefer groups of 3+. Community's are lots of fun!

TBH I'm not really sure. It doesn't really matter to me just as long as the tank isn't over stocked and the fish are all healthy and happy.

I'm probably just going to get some ADFs though. :]

If your betta is a sweetheart he'd probably be fine with a shoal of pygmy cories in a 10g. They're so tiny, are good scroungers, and barely contribute to the bioload. In addition, they're very playful and a hoot to watch. I've had three different sweetheart bettas living with my pygmies at various points and they all got along swimmingly. :)

i vote pygmy cories! cories are so fun, and i think smaller ones wouldn't bug you'r old man too much :)
