Want some hardy plants get yourself some Betta Bulbs. Pack of 3 is like 3-4 bucks. I planted 2 in my 5, they thriving. I put the 3rd bulb as a test in my critter keeper (which I use for my fish net) which basically is stationed at an area with no light. Started to sprout after a month and the thing kept growing with no light, lol. I ended up taking it out and planting it in the gravel in his tank.

Yep K= Kelvin. It's a temperature rating. =] White light is somewhere around 2,000 K or something.

You'll want a CFL. =] One of the swirly bulbs. They use less energy and are better for aquariums because they don't get as hot so they wont really affect the temperature.

All of the plants I listed earlier are stem plants. =]

If you want free stem plants you could look through a planted tank forum such as www.plantedtank.net or www.aquaticplantcentral.com.

They normally have a sales subforum. I know on The Planted Tank you can only see it if you're a member. It's called the Swap n' Shop! =]

You'd probably still have to pay shippping but that's it. =]

I actually found some full spectrum lighting for the hex! I will take the list of stem plants y'all gave with me to Petsmart next time I go. The plants will mix if I decide to mix them, right?

Plants don't have mixing requirements to my knowledge. :P Yeah they should be fine. Most people use a variety of different plants in their tanks. =]

Good luck with your plant search! =] You should be able to at least find the Anacharis. You might be able to find Hornwort too. =]
