A little help please =)

I did a 100% water change last Sunday because my ammonia levels were high. I noticed that my water has been slightly cloudy since the change and I have had a film on the top of the water that I keep scooping off. There is also a slight odor that I notice when I open the tank. All of my water parameters came back normal expect for my water hardness, which came back as hard (I have never had water hardness problems before). I have pH increaser right now, will that work to soften the water?

It is a 29 gallon tank with 6 neon tetras and 1 male betta. It is filtered and the temp stays between 79.5 and 80 degrees F. I plan on changing the location of the filter to see if a different location will create a better current. Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated!

If you have a filtered cycled 29gal tank why did you make a 100% water change and kill the nitrifying bacteria? ammonia spike usually mean poor husbandry and need for a 50% water change and/or a swish/rise of the filter media in old tank water to improve water flow.

Cloudy water with a smell is most likely a bacterial bloom....I would start a water only changes of 25-50% daily for a few days and then a couple of times weekly until the nitrogen cycle has completed

What are the numbers for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, GH, KH

The less chemical additives the better especially when it come to pH and hardness unless you are breeding some species of tropical fish

Ammonia: 0.5
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:0
pH: 7.2
Hardness: 300
Alkalinity:80

I did a 100% water change because I noticed that some of the color covering my glass rocks that I got at an aquarium store was coming off, some in big pieces and some in small pieces. I removed all of the rocks that I got from the particular store because I was afraid that the paint or whatever it was would kill all of my fish.
