Well, I was browsing and seen a lot a pretty sanded setups. So I thought to myself this shouldn't be that had, just a simple change over from gravel. Well this is my first sanded setup also, I just about forgot to think of how will I keep sand from getting into my filter... Well while at Lowes, I picked up 2 50lb bags of play sand. Then I wondered around thinking what could be a good preventative way to block the sand but keep water flow decent on my filters. I have 2 Marineland Emperor 400 pro series filters, that are kind of pricey to have to replace for my silly wanting of sand. Anyway, I picked up some windowed style air conditioner filters, for $1.98 for 2 sheets of 15"x24" and 1/4" thick. Im going to use this to keep the sand out or try to lol. I figured would be a good time while I have my Oscar healing in my 30 gallon tank. Ill try and find my camera and if it works I can get picks of it, AFTER it clears up. Anyone else use sand over gravel? How hard is it to clean? Care to share any pics of your setups? Or comment on my thoughts? lol.
