Are they really veiltales?

Just wondering if my fishies are truly veiltales or if they were incorrectly labeled at the pet stores they came from.

Thoughts?

ps. I know his bowl was dirty (second picture). I had just been experimenting with different foods. Can't get those silly bettas to eat pellets!

Yes, they're VTs. Pretty guys too! it looks like the second one had some finrot or tailbiting in the past which is why his edges are uneven, but it's nothing to worry about now. Just wondering though if these are their permanent homes. If they are, it's highly recommended that a betta has at least two and a half gallons and an adjustable heater.

These are their homes for now until I move out. They only have to put up with them for another few weeks then I will be spitting some 10 gallons. Thanks, I think they are gorgeous too! I have a red one too that I know is a veiltale and came from the store with ich :(

Veiltails.. yep yep! :]. And how often are you changing their water? And what exactly do they do when you try to feed them pellets?

100% Every other day. They chew on the pellets for a second then spit them out. They are too big for my little girls anyway, so I don't even try wit them, but the boys are definitely big enough to handle them, they just choose not to.
