First DOA...

I've been waiting to recieve a girl I adopted from someone on another betta forum for the last few months, and he finally got around to shipping her out the other day... The box was nicely insulated, but when she got here (not 5 minutes ago), she was lifeless. The water was ice cold. The postal service was supposed to deliver her yesterday. YESTERDAY. I hate the mail this time of year...

I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to feel right now.

A word of advice -- DO NOT SHIP OUT YOUR FISH WITHOUT A HEAT PACK THIS TIME OF YEAR. The postal service sucks because EVERYONE is shipping packages. I learned this the hard way. :(

I'm so sorry for your loss right now isn't the best time when the holidays near everybody ships stuff. And it's slow......but you said the person shipped it out yesterday do you live in a cold place?

No, he shipped it on Monday, it was supposed to arrive on Wed.... I live in Nebraska, and we actually had a few warm days... but last night we had unexpected freezing rain/snow so I think that's what did it. I was iffy about having her shipped, but the sender and I decided to take the risk, so it's on us. I just feel awful about it right now.

Awww Im so sorry you lost her! You definitely never want to ship this time of year without a heat pack! Especially if your using priority shipping!

That is really sad. I'm sorry, and I hope you never have to experience this type of loss again. Losing fish before you even get to meet them hurts.
