My fish is going skitz O.o

I dunno if its a good or bad thing, but he is more active when the lamp is over the tank then when its not he spends most of his time sitting dormant on top of the filter. When i put the air stone in he hid behind the filter sitting on the suction clip of the heater, now hes swimming to the bottom and riding the bubbles up :D but when i turn the lamp off he goes back to his possie on top of the filter =/ and he's still not interested in food :(

When you turn the lamp off, it sounds like he's sleeping lol. That lamp is day and the lamp off is night. =P

Even during the day he spends all his time on top of the filter and hardly explores at all =\

And yes I tried bloodworms, he went for them at first but they sank too quickly and when thy got to the bottom he wasn't interested anymore...so his food strike continues....

He's probably feeling insecure and that is why he is hiding. Adding more decorations to the tank, such as tall silk plants with broad leaves should help him feel more secure in his environment and give him something to perch on closer to the surface. A small cave should also help, this can be as simple as a well-rinsed coffee mug turned on its side. Try to leave him alone as much as you can, sticking your face up next to the tank can be startling for some fish when they are new.

I'd say so! That's about what my fish does, lol. Once in a while he twists around in his plants and tries to squeeze into tiny places.

They seem to have a fascination with trying to get stuck!

It sounds like your fish might just be being picky if he's not eating. You say he's riding the bubbles up, which is good! I'm glad he's not stressed by the bubbles. When you said airstone, I thought maybe that was what was keeping him hiding. I guess not. :)

Is this a change in behavior or has he been this inactive for as long as you've had him? Some bettas are just lazy! If his behavior changed, was it right after you did something to his surroundings (switch tanks, change out decorations, etc.)?
