Talking First Spawn Journal

I have started the process! Here are some pics journaling the beginnings :)

Blushing bride Mei:

Harlequin strikes a pose to entice Mei:

Building his bubble nest :) You can even see the bubbles he just blew haha

He's so pretty! But now I'm questioning whether or not he is a marble...

Mei is deciding whether or not she'll have him:

It's my first time breeding bettas (not with breeding in general though)... and it's Harley's first time breeding. I hope everything goes well enough to have pairs available! I'll be keeping everyone updated :)

Here's an update!

Harley has made some progress on his nest, but he seems more interested in tending the current bubbles instead of making new ones haha:

Mei is still waiting patiently:

This was a big fail. After a day together Mei is exhausted and very battered. I took her out and put her in a quarantine tank. Harley just wasn't interested in breeding. It was almost like he thought the eggs were already in the bubbles! Poor Mei... she's all striped up and was interested in Harley. Oh well I'll try something else, but after she's recovered.

Poor girl. Sometimes certain males are too agressive. Good luck next time!

I am sad to hear that the first try did not work out. I'm glad you separated them if it was not working out. It is not uncommon for it to take up to 2-3 days before a pair will spawn.
