How Do I Get My Parents To Let Me Have A Betta Fish Pair?
Okay so I have tried everything for my parents to let me get my first bettas, but my dad says "When We Had The Angelfish I was the one who cleaned it" I have tried everything asking for one for christmas, and they said no! I am getting money for christmas so I will use MY money to get a betta but they still say no any tips?
I got mine because I adopted goldfish, which made a huge mess and smelled so I rehomed them and used their 10 gallon as a tank for bettas. The ten gallon wasn't even supposed to be running, because I broke rules when I bought it, saying I was getting a small tank n.n
Then I put Jazz & Friday in, and my dad was okay because it was only ONE tank. Then I got Sunny, and then Jazz passed :( but now my dad knows I can handle them well and will let me get another tank if we can ever find room for it.
I'd suggest emphasizing the use of dividers and divided tanks so they can compromise.
Maybe try to prove to your parents that you could handle the responsibility?
Maybe do some extra chores without being asked, get good grades in school, or try to get a part time job!
Or ask any family members, friends, or neighbors if they need any help around the house and volunteer to do it for free. And if you have any other pets, make sure you take extra good care of them without your parents having to tell you anything!
I think proving to them that you are responsible and capable is the key here! :)
I agree with Taylor. Do something to prove you can care for them and are willing to. Make a schedule to take care of a pet you already have and stick to it for a while. Or make a schedule to clean your room and stick to that. Prove you're willing to do the work before the fish. Cause, trust me, it's work. :P
Aha, I do the opposite. I say "Dad, I want a betta." and tell him all things I do and can do around the house and then do them all the time until he sees I'm not just doing it until I get the betta, i can do it for a while. :P
