Red face Is it odd that I WANT a deformed betta?

I've always been drawn to the bettas that are possibly blind, or are missing fins and anything along those lines.

Every time I go to the store, I look at the bettas and fall in love with either a beautiful halfmoon or crowntail, or I end up wanting to take home the little veiltail that's missing an eye (just an example).

Once I almost took home a blue and white marble veiltail... who looked blind and had brown, furry fungus growing all over him.

And the next day I almost bought a blue over-halfmoon with a white butterfly pattern...

Is this wierd?

If you look at all the wild types of bettas, all man made/selectively bred betta varieties might look "deformed" in comparison.

It's not weird---I feel the same way sometimes. Maybe you fall in love with them because they have the least chance of escaping the store?
