I feel so dumb for asking this, as I have been an active member of Bettafish.com for over 2 months now (and I have had my betta for 6 months), but can you keep a female betta just like you would a male? Like in a 1.5g filtered tank? I guess I am asking if, if it works for a male, does that mean it works for a female? I have heard that females have tons of personality, so I am thinking about trying to get some.
Of course, gender doesn't affect how many gallons they need or anything else. Just as long as they have proper conditions, like clean water, plants, places to hide and a heater, any Betta should be happy. Although I like more then 1.5 Gallons myself, but thats fine.
Also if you ever have the time or money, Betta Sororities are great lol Females are the best.
Some fish have different requirements for different genders. I would love a sorority, but my bedroom is out of room (now that I have 1 55g, 2 10g, 4 5g and under).

Thanks!
sure you can, in fact if you want to make sure your female does not have torn fins the result of community housing, its best you separate her from the others. her fins and colour will develop beautifully, although not as 'nice' as males, she will have her own intersting personality.
