So Friday's fins are back to torn, and I have NO idea how. When I got him, they were perfectly straight double crowns. Then him and Jazz got finrot, which subsided. The fins grew back to some single crowns and some double, triple, or quadruple crowns. Now they're ripped again. Any idea why?
Sunny, on the other hand is really bloated. It went away once before and he isn't acting weird, I just don't know why he's so bloated. I feed him 4-5 pellets TOTAL everyday and maybe a bloodworm once or twice a week and during water changes and salt baths.
Pictures (in a salt bath, I'm trying to get the webbing between the ends of his fins to grow back, and it helped to get a picture too)
Any ideas as to the cause and possible treatments? I have been doing Epsom salt baths for both of them yesterday, and today, 15 mins each.
For the finrot, your water may be too hard. Do you have any plants that are plastic? As for the other one, you should just skip feeding for a few days. You should give both fish salt baths to heal the finrot.
well I figured the finrot was gone because this hasnt been progressive, just randm ripped fins. And my water has been a little hard for a while, and all the plants are plastic. The live ones I had were crowding the tank really REALLY badly.
For good measure:
What size is your tank?
10 gallon, divided in two.
What temperature is your tank?
Does your tank have a filter?
Yes, that's baffled with pantyhose and a waterbottle.
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration?
One airstone, on low and a bubble chest, which is usually off/ on low.
Is your tank heated?
What tank mates does your betta fish live with?
One orphan ADF, because the other three died in other's care.
What type of food do you feed your betta fish?
Aqueon Betta Pellets,
How often do you feed your betta fish?
2/3 pellets once or twice a day
How often do you perform a water change?
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change?
10-20, or 100 (rarely)
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change?
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?
My test strips got wet and the chart was already ruined so I can't right now.
Symptoms and Treatment

None for either
When did you start noticing the symptoms?
a couple days ago
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how?
Epsom salt baths
Does your fish have any history of being ill?
Finrot once, but very minor and about 6 months ago
How old is your fish (approximately)?
both about a year and a half.
I know that. But theres this problem where my WHOLE tank is plastic, and if i have to get 100% new plants, I'm going to be in HUGE trouble, considering it'd be a "waste." Since it's Christmas time, I have no money and I'm pretty sure that my dad isn't gonna let me spend any more on fish.
Maybe you should just move the betta to a tuppaware contianer. You probably have a good sized one lying around somewhere. Put him in there until youy can get some funds. You'll probably get some cash for Christmas.
I have three cats in the house, so a Tupperware would take up too much room in my tank and the cats would get to it. Which means no more fish... and Sunny is in with all plastic plants as well, and so is flower. That's about 15 plants to replace. Not gonna happen, seeing as we aren't allowed to give or get money for Christmas anyway. And i don't think the plants would rip a crowntail, more likely if it was the plants' fault, Sunny would be ripped, not Friday.
